Lip filler appointments typically take 30 to 45 minutes from start to finish. We apply a topical numbing cream beforehand to keep you comfortable, and most filler products also contain lidocaine to reduce any sensation during injection. Most clients describe the experience as mild pressure or a light pinch, not painful.

Lip flip appointments are even faster, often 10 to 15 minutes, since the treatment involves just a few small injections along the upper lip line.

After the Treatment

Here is what to expect in the days following your appointment:

• Swelling: Normal and expected, especially with filler. It is usually most noticeable in the first 24 to 48 hours and then gradually settles.
• Bruising: Possible but not guaranteed. It typically fades within 5 to 7 days.
• Tenderness: The lips may feel sensitive to the touch for a few days.
• Initial appearance: Your lips may look slightly more dramatic right after the appointment than they will once the filler settles, which takes about 2 weeks.

Aftercare is simple: avoid intense exercise for 24 hours, skip extreme heat like saunas or hot yoga for a few days, and stay hydrated. Our team will walk you through everything at your appointment.

How to Time Your Lip Treatment Before Summer Events

Timing matters more than most people realize, and it is one of the first things we discuss during consultations with clients who have a specific event on the calendar.

General Timing Guidelines

• 2 weeks before your event is the sweet spot for lip filler. This gives swelling time to resolve and the product time to settle into its final, natural shape.
• 1 week before is workable but leaves less margin if any swelling lingers.
• Lip flip can be done about 10 to 14 days before an event since it takes a few days to fully kick in and has minimal swelling.
• Last-minute bookings (within a few days of an event) are better suited to the lip flip than filler, since the risk of visible swelling is lower.

For brides especially, we typically recommend a trial appointment several weeks or months before the wedding so you can see how your lips respond to the product and make any adjustments before the big day.
